Phonic pebbles

Interesting, visual and tactile, this new set of Phonics Pebbles is ideal for introducing letters and their sounds.

Appealing to children's natural instincts to sort and collect, these tactile pebbles can be used in sand, water and small-world play. They are durable and weatherproof, so are also ideal for using outdoors.

This flexible resource can be used in many ways to support early phonics teaching. Included in the set are helpful Teacher's Notes with great game ideas for phoneme recognition and moving into blending and segmenting. These activities offer children playful opportunities to practice and apply their new phonic knowledge. There are also suggestions for outdoor activities and for using the pebbles alongside reading to help introduce the focus phoneme.

Cast from resin and stone mix, each pebble is engraved with a grapheme and measure 30-45mm. Each set contains 64 pebbles covering the 44 phonemes from Phases Two and Three plus the most common alternative spellings from Phase Five. The Teacher's Notes also include a quick checklist for the pebbles you can use for each phoneme when covering alternative spellings. Each set comes in a handy storage jar.

Phonics Pebbles are featured in the Government’s ‘Importance of Phonics’ catalogue. To claim your match-funding, orders must be placed via a Pro5 organisation.
