Looking to take an active approach to your phonics teaching?

Our new Active Phonics kit offers flexible resources designed for active phonics games and activities.

Each set includes a set of six yellow tabards and 64 phoneme cards covering all 44 phonemes and the most common alternative graphemes. The tabards have a clear PVC pocket (measuring 140mm) at the front, making them ideal for a wide range of phonic activities both indoors and out. Each card is double-sided with the phoneme clearly shown on one side and a handy checklist of words for blending and segmenting on the reverse.

Written by teacher and phonics trainer Jaz Ampaw-Farr, the Games Guide is full of practical ideas and games. The games featured are flexible for use at different stages of any phonics scheme can be easily adapted. There are ideas for introducing the sounds, blending and segmenting plus alternative spellings. Also included in the kit is a free resources CD-ROM with files for the phonic cards, editable word lists and assessment checklists, ideal for keeping track of children's progress.

The Active Phonics Kit can be used with groups of different sizes, or even one-to-one for children needing additional support. Additional sets of children's tabards are available.
